Likely that this is copied from existing 1439 test - but
<dt>Boot up the image</dt>
<dd>System boots to 'Select Language'</dd>
<dt>Select Install Ubuntu and press Enter</dt>
<dd>System displays 'Select Location'</dd>
needs to be
<dt>Boot up the image</dt>
<dd>System boots to Installer language 'Select Language'</dd>
<dt>Select Install FAMILY and press Enter</dt>
<dd>Language selction windows opens</dd>
<dt>Select language for installed system</dt>
<dd>System displays 'Select Location'</dd>
Fix that and the /dev/vdb/ reference then good to go after a check.
Thanks Lars :)

Hi Elfy and Lars,
FAMILY is a very strange term, that is confusing for me and I think also
many other people. I think it should be replaced by the actual flavour,
in this case Lubuntu (unless the testcase is used by some other flavour,
but I am rather sure it is not, I did not find anything indicating that,
when I looked for it). FAMILY can also be skipped ;-)
Let us compare these text strings:
"Select install Lubuntu and press Enter"
"Select install and press Enter"
"Select install FAMILY and press Enter"
-o-
You can find devices like /dev/vdb/ in KVM + virt-manager. /dev/hdb is
not used by Ubuntu any more for PATA disks (but it is an example in the
installer itself). It is OK with me to skip /dev/vdb/ or maybe replace
it with /dev/sdb/
Best regards

Use flavor. Best to keep testcases generalized, just in case.
David Pires (slickymaster) wrote : | # |
Yes, rule of thumb of manual testcases is to keep them flavor agnostic as much as possible.

@sudodus - FAMILY will when you boot with a lubuntu image - say Lubuntu, Xubuntu image - Xubuntu etc
re - /dev/vdb/ - let's not make assumptions that people are using some virtual manager

In that case I'm happy with it :-)
I guess the style-sheet should fix it.

OK, no problem for me.

mmm - actually just realised something - this is an edit of an existing testcase - do we actually want to do that, or create a new testcase.
If this edit is to deal with a Lubuntu issue then the correct course of action would be to create a new testcase leaving the existing testcase as it is.
Lars Noodén (larsnooden) wrote : | # |
Ok. We can ignore it while I figure out how to get my local bzr archive to roll it back. If I make a new file what should I call it?
Also, do you know if it is possible for me to share write access to this branch?

I assume you've still got a local copy of this.
I would pull the main branch again and then just copy your changes to a new file in that new archive, then push that.
Alternate Install (un-encrypted home) perhaps
Don't give it a number though.

as far as I am aware no is the answer to that

Hi Elfy and Lars
It is to deal with a big issue with the 'Encrypted home' package, which
has been buggy for a very long time. Cryptswap does not work, and all
the other testcases concerning encryption have only 'Encrypted disk with
LVM'.
It is also to deal with a bug in the alternate installer's automatic
selection of target for the bootloader. But I would say these issues are
not really Lubuntu issues, have nothing to do with what it in the package
lubuntu-desktop
If you think it is better to create a new testcase - I'm happy with that
too. But the old one should be given lower priority as shown in the QA
tracker or not shown at all.

I couldn't figure out how to roll it back this time nor how to start over. So I overwrote the changed file with the original and committed and then added the new file and committed. It should be checked again now.

It looks good to me too, except the title:
It states what it is not testing, instead of what it *is* testing ;-)
I have no better suggestion right now, and I'm happy to get it uploaded,
but I hope we can come up with a better title, and modify it quick-like
(after some mail correspondence).

Hi again Elfy and Lars,
All is not done - I cannot see this new testcase in the QA tracker.
What is the next step - and who can do it? - wxl?

Whoever's in the lubuntu release team will be able to edit lubuntu testsuites - *this* bit is done.

Congrats on your first testcase!!!!!!!!
It's in there as optional now. ☺
Should you do other testcases that aren't for alternate, I encourage you to email ubuntu-quality about them in case other flavors might want to pick them up.
If they are applicable to Lubuntu, please get in touch with me or gilir (good luck!) and we'll get them on the tracker.
Then you're welcome to announce to lubuntu-qa ☺

Great teamwork :-)
Congratulations Lars, for penetrating the Launchpad jungle and getting
all steps done!
Thanks Elfy for guiding us in the jungle.
And thanks Walter for helping us at the start and the end of the task.
I think this project has not only given us a new testcase, it has also
taught us a lot about encrypted systems and about the alternate
installer. So these applications and aspects of Lubuntu will be tested
with more insight than before.
Best regards
Nio

I'll run through a testcase asap, just to verify there's nothing else. Thank Lars
