Ok, so I merged the README fix and started looking at the rest.

By the way, the upstream branch is lp:~ubuntu-core-dev/friendly-recovery/ubuntu so I'll be applying these changes by hand as a merge won't work.

I'll now file a UIFe bug and see what the release team thinks of these changes.
