Thanks for the review.

Specifically, I need the data for a bash script, so inlining python isn't feasible there, so need to have it be a standalone script. I did consider just putting that script where I need it, but figured it may be of more general use, thus the MP.

Regarding querying from LP vs parsing this repo, I guess it's a six for one to one half-dozen for the other. I'd used the former approach for merge opportunities and I guess assumed this more direct way would be better (at least simpler & more robust), but will give it more thought as I see what works in practice. At least it's useful having more than one way to get the info.
