       I'm a professional hip hop producer and I just recently been introduced to LMMS. After reviewing over the program I recognized the software in need of certain aspects if its to measure up to the others.
I'm new to LINUX, so I hope this post gets read by someone who can make the necessary changes or if who ever reads this can direct me to the course of action to take to make the additions.
Anyway, as I was saying, the software is great except for 2 reasons. The first is the need to be able to incorporate -as Fruity Loops describes it..."beat to slice" capabilities. What this function does is not only import a sample but slice it into many usable pieces within the browser section of the software. This gives the user the ability to chop samples up, pull out their kick/snare or hi-hat and incorporate the piece into the drum pattern section for sequencing.
Secondly, what LMMS needs is pre-computing effect. Such as fade in and fade out knobs for each chopped sample. This allows the user to truncuate or trim the fat of each kick/snare or hi-hat that that they want to use.
Lastly, what LMMS needs is the ability to speed or slow down a sample without a change in pitch.
