Don't close the X connection when an XCB error has occurred

Using the Xlib's XCloseDisplay call when an XCB error has occurred
results in a fatal IO error in Xlib. Unfortunately, due to an XCB bug
there is no graceful way to handle this circumstance. The only thing we
can do is leave the connection dangling.
