This branch was an attempt to improve the startup speed of software-center. It is incredibly fast, but the changes that occurred in trunk and other branches were too big to update this branch against. The commits were also all a bit messy, so it's absolutely not fun to review.

The lp:~kiwinote/software-center/startup-speed branch aims to apply the changes made in this branch in nice commits to the current trunk.
