This proposal supersedes a proposal from 2013-06-19.

Description of the change

For testing only.

v2: keep current_compiler_options when testing for an arch.
v3: fix sat-1.c test.
v4: revert all changes, to see validation results: v2/v3 seem to show unexpected regressions.
v5: re-introduce changes; v4 solved parts of the unexpected regressions...
